HAVERHILL: Jeannette D. (Jalbert) Francis, 95, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Stevens Bennett Home in Haverhill. She was the wife of the late Harold F. Francis, Sr.
Born on April 21, 1918 in Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (LeFleur) Jalbert. She had been a resident of Haverhill since 1918. She attended Haverhill schools. Jeannette worked as an assembler for the former Western Electric in North Andover for thirteen years until her retirement in 1983.
She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church for many years. Jeannette enjoyed knitting, golfing and taking long walks. She also loved to play cards with her daughter, Paula when she came to visit her. The Francis family would like to thank the Stevens Bennett home and the Merrimack Valley Hospice for the wonderful care and respect their mother was shown during her time with them.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula L. and Eugene S. Jastrem of Londonderry, NH and her son and daughter-in-law, Harold F. and Sheila Francis of Groveland; three grandchildren, Colleen Duchmer and her husband, Jeff of Haverhill, Eugene S. Jastrem, III and his wife, Joyce of Londonderry, NH and Kevin Jastrem of Superior, CO; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Caily, Andrew, Nicole and Emily and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her twin sister, Mariette and sisters, Anne, Ida and Doris; a brother Henry Jalbert and her grandson, James M. Francis who died in 1981.
At the request of Jeannette’s family services will be privately held in the St. James Cemetery on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Stevens Bennett Home, 337 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
