Ray S. Ingle, Sr., 76, of Sycamore, Georgia, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Ocilla Church of God, with the Rev. Clayton Dowd and Jerry Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Ingle was born December 25, 1937, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, to the late Hugh Raymond and Pauline Merle Ingle. Mr. Ingle was a resident of Asheville, North Carolina for many years, before retiring, in April of 2003 and moving to the community. While Mr. Ingle lived in North Carolina, he was a truck driver for Blue Ridge Trucking and the Teamsters Union. He was a longtime member of the Biltmore Church of God in Asheville, North Carolina, where he served as assistant treasurer. He enjoyed spending time with his brother-in-law: Gerald Pirkle, enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and loved his family dearly. Mr. Ingle was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Ingle was a member of Ocilla Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Gwendolyn “Gwen” Barber Ingle of Sycamore; children: Ray S. Ingle, Jr. of Irwinville, Mandy I. Dix of Sycamore and Jon & Robbie Ingle of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandchildren: Raye Harper, Cory Dix, Jordan Fincher and Colton Ingle; great-grandchildren: Kylee, Madison and Conner Harper and a brother: Joe & Darlene Ingle of Ayden, North Carolina. Also many nieces and nephews survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Margaret I. Martin.
