Gary T. Welcher
Martinez, GA – Entered into rest February 23, 2014, Gary T. Welcher, 63, husband of Joanne G. Welcher.
Mr. Welcher has lived in the Martinez-Augusta area for the past 35 years. He was a POW while serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Welcher was retired from Augusta News Print. He served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, he was a member of St. Teresa Knights of Columbus Council #8495, and the Augusta Elks Lodge #205 BPOE.
In addition to his wife, family members include daughter: Jennifer Dickens of Eatonton, GA; sons: Michael Shane Welcher (Ashlie) of Augusta, Justin David Welcher of Tacoma, WA; and 7 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Ingram celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wells Fargo Bank in name of Mrs. Welcher.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
