Obituary

Randy L. Dunn
Dec. 21, 1958- Feb. 22, 2014

Randy L. Dunn,55, of Anderson died on February 22, 2014 at St. Vincent's Heart Center in Indianapolis.

Randy graduated from Anderson High School in 1977. He worked with his father eventually taking over the family business (Lee Dunn & Sons Auto & Truck Repair) for 25 years. Later, having driven dump trucks since the age of 13, he loved driving big trucks and made that his living. Randy had more than 35 years of commercial truck driving experience with a spotless safety and work record. He was employed by Newco Metals, Pendleton.

Randy worked hard, played hard, and rested hard. He loved his family, his country home, and all his pets. He enjoyed horseback riding, playing guitar, fishing, building, nature, history, scuba diving, camping and cuisine. Taking to the open road on his Harley quenched his need for freedom.

Randy's personal story is one of success. After struggling with alcohol addiction in early years, he became sober before his children were born. He was humbly proud to claim 27 years of sobriety. Thus, he found great reward in helping others with those struggles.

He was a man of steel and velvet. He had a wealth of common sense and a slow, easy way about him. He was a great, loving, dependable husband and father. He will be greatly missed and remembered.

Randy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Melanie; his son, Jordan L.; brother, Tony (Sandy) Dunn and sister, Michelle (Don) King.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hannah Marie; mother, Geraldine Dunn; and a father, Harry L. Dunn.

A celebration of life will be held from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 1, 2014 with a memorial service immediately following at 12:00 noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. As cremation has taken place, Randy will be laid to rest at a later time.

Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
