Gerald Ralph Gaouette, age 62, passed away after a long fight with cancer on Feb 19, 2014. Gerald was born on Nov 27, 1951 in Chicopee to the late Raymond and Gladys (Goddu) Gaouette. Gerald proudly served in the US Army from 1971 to 1975 and has spent his last years as a Disabled Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter Badge. He was a member of the American Legion and an honorary member of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Association. He owned Gerry’s Variety Store in Westfield and also worked in landscaping and for Spaulding for many years. Gerald leaves his son Jonathan Gaouette and his wife Kristina of Chicopee; one brother Gene Gaouette of Tampa, FL; two sisters Gloria Lee of FL and Rose Bowman of Tampa, FL; and two grandchildren Sebastian and Raelyn Gaouette. A memorial service will be held on Wed Feb 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA with Military Honors to be rendered by the US Army.
