Miguel A. Verdejo, 21, Pvt. 2, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 while stationed at Fort Campbell, Tennessee. He was currently serving as a Cavalry Scout with the US Army.
Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Zulema Polanco of Salem and Carlos Verdejo of Puerto Rico. He was a graduate of Salem High School and prior to his enlistment one year ago, he worked in sales for Rack Room Shoes at the North Shore Mall.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Paola Guerrero and son Xavier Miguel Verdejo of Peabody, 5 brothers, Jean, Carlos, Luis, Miguel & Christian Verdejo, 8 sisters, Carol, Carmen, Carla, Maria, Silve, Natalia, Veronica Verdejo & Luz Santos, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA, to be followed by his funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd. Salem at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
