Obituary

TAUNTON — Thomas W. Knell, 69, died at Marian Manor on Feb. 20, 2014. Born in Boston, the son of the late Arthur and Marjorie Knell, Mr. Knell was educated in Boston schools and was a graduate of Medford High School.

He was employed by Senior Operations, Inc./Metal Bellows Division as an electrician before his retirement in 2004.

He is survived by his wife Shirley (Hodgson) Knell of Taunton; his children, Michele Newman and Lyn McGovern, both of North Attleboro, Ronald Newman and his wife Sherry of Swansea and Stephanie O'Day of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Vanessa, Julean and Trevor Newman; a great grandson, Logan Coburn; two sisters, Joan Grecho and her husband Paul of Plainville, and Dorothy Dawe and her husband Joseph of Stoughton; and several nieces and nephews.

Tom was in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he learned his trade as an electrician. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox as well as an active member of the Wampanoaug Camping Club where he enjoyed traveling and meeting new people.

His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA on Wednesday, Feb. 26th at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church, East Taunton, MA at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in N. Attleboro.

Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 25th from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Tom's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 473 South Street, Raynham, MA 02767. www.silvafuneralhome.com.
