Obituary

Robert F. “Deco” DeCosta age 83 of Brockton, died Wednesday February 19, 2014 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband for 61 years of Lois E. Peluso DeCosta. He was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late William and Anna (Tamulevich) DeCosta and remained a lifelong resident of the city.

Bob served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and served on the USS Este, USS Astoria and the USS Salem. Following his military service, he was employed for many years with the American Window Cleaning Company. In his retirement, Bob worked with his daughter at Loves Florist in Brockton.

Bob was a home body who loved to fish. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Lois, Bob leaves his daughter Laurie DeCosta Grady and her husband Gene of E. Bridgewater and his grandchildren Matthew Brown, Rachel Brown and Zachary Grady. He was the father of the late Bonnie Lou DeCosta and brother of Carol Lessard of Brockton and the late Richard “Deco” DeCosta and William “Deco” DeCosta. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday 3-6 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 9 am for a Funeral Mass in St. John Church E. Bridgewater at 10. Burial will be at a later date in Melrose Cemetery.
