Obituary

Gill, Michael Francis, 68, of Quincy and formerly Brighton entered into internal peace and new life Thursday February 20, 2014 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the V.A. Medical Center, W. Roxbury, Mass.
Michael was born in Brighton January 29, 1946. After high school he entered the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Airborne Division of Special Forces, Viet Nam. He worked at the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston until he retired three years ago.

Michael was predeceased by his youngest brother Philip and mother Loretta “Fran” Mahoney Gill of Brighton, Mass. He leaves behind his sister, Michele Gill Tycz, her husband Joe of Oakdale, CT., nephews Matthew Tycz of Maine and Jeffrey Tycz of California, and brother Steven Gill of Leverett, Mass., niece Emily Gill of Stillwater, N.Y., and brother Kevin Gill of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday February 25 at Christ the King Church, Mashpee, Mass. Interment will follow at Bourne National Cemetery, Cape Cod at 11:15 AM.

There are no calling hours.

With much gratitude Mike’s family wish to thank all the angels of mercy, doctors, nurses, aides at the V. A. Medical Center and are especially grateful to the Palliative/Hospice Team. Also, much thanks to the Fisher House accommodations for family members and the Lawler Funeral Home.
