Ruth Malpas Tekirian of Woburn peacefully passed from this life to our heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 19,2014 at the age of 93. Ruth was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ. She majored in art at Douglas College in New Brunswick, NJ. Upon graduation, she worked at the Prudential, illustrating the firm’s newsletters. She then became an art teacher in public schools. She married Harold John Tekirian in October 1948. While raising two children, she had little time for her art work, until her husband retired in 1984. She moved to New Horizons, Woburn, when her husband passed away and to be closer to her daughter. She joined The Woburn Guild of Artists to continue her love of art, winning several ribbons for her pastel portraits of animals and people, her favorite subjects. She leaves a son, Robert Tekirian of Clifton, NJ her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Gerald Polcari of Winchester and her two grandsons, Andrew and Justin Polcari. Visiting hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Sat. Feb. 22 from 1-3PM.
