Middleboro – Mary Ann (Tympanick) O’Horo 66, formerly of Whitman, died Tuesday February 18 in the Massachusetts General Hospital after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Thomas K. O’Horo.
Born in Perth Amboy, NJ she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Sophie (Matuszewski) Tympanick.
Mary Ann had earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University and had held several positions throughout the years. For over 10 years she had worked as general manager for Décor Manufacturing of Whitman, and had served as assistant to the Vice President of The Lewis M. Gerson Company of Middleboro, assistant to the Executive President of the Private Eyes Sunglass Corp. of Norwell, was the operations manager for New England Resort Properties of Scituate and the accounts receivable administrator for the Globe Rubber Company of Rockland.
Prior to her move to Middleboro over 10 years ago, Mary Ann had been an active resident of the Whitman community for over 30 years. She had devoted many hours to the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of Whitman where she had served as secretary and was a past president.
She had also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was a secretary for the Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group of Boston, as well as dedicating her time to raising funds for Archbishop Williams High School.
She was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church where she worked with the Youth Ministry of the Parish.
She along with her husband Tom had loved to travel, and she enjoyed reading and sewing but her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Thomas, she is survived by her son Thomas T. O’Horo and his wife Catherine of Richmond, RI and her siblings Robert Tympanick, Theodore Tympanick and his wife Patricia and Dorothy Gawroriski and her husband John all of NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Thomas J., Daniel P. and Alexander J. O’Horo as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held Monday February 24 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the St. James Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday February 23 from 2-5 PM.
