Swampscott - William Loring Hobbs, age 62, of Swampscott Massachusetts died peacefully on February 15, 2014. Born in Salem, MA, Willy was the son of Katherine (Konos) Davies of New Port Richey, FL, and the late Everett William Hobbs of Salem. Willy graduated from Salem High School in 1969 and WPI in 1973. Willy also attended MIT.
Willy was a structural engineer who over his career worked at Zaldastani Associates of Boston, LeMessurier Consultants of Boston, and Maurice Reidy Engineering of Boston. In 1986, he launched his own successful engineering consulting firm, Hobbs Endeavour Corporation, which he ran until his death. He provided engineering support for clients such as Turner Construction, Filene’s of Boston, and American Optical. He also designed and repaired many local structures in Salem, Swampscott, and surrounding communities. Willy was also a former instructor at Wentworth Institute. He was an avid reader and outdoorsman who loved fishing and boating.
Willy leaves his wife Rosalie, and their children, William and Marisa of Swampscott. He also leaves sons Jason of Exeter, NH, Eric, of Epping, NH, and Joshua of Raleigh-Durham, NC, a sister and brother, Priscilla and Charles, both of Salem and his step-mother, Patricia Hobbs of Beverly. He was predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey, a son, Jeremy, and his step-father Norman Davies.
