Ema Bertha "Bita" Fosse
Longtime Belvidere Resident
LOWELL: Ema Bertha "Bita" (Salcido)Fosse, age 82, a longtime resident of the Belvidere area of Lowell, formerly of Tewksbury and Andover, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Arthur E. Fosse, who passed away on December 31, 2002.
Born in Canutillo, Texas on October 17, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jose Salcido and the late Marguerita (Gonzalez) Salcido.
"Bita" was raised in Texas and attended local schools.
In 1952, she moved to Tewksbury, where she lived for 10 years until moving to Starr Avenue in Lowell's Belvidere area, where she and her late husband raised their four children. In 1984, she relocated to Andover, where she lived until retiring to Florida and Pine Point, Maine.
Bita was an accomplished golfer and tennis player. She was a member of the former Northmeadow Tennis Club in Tewksbury, as well as a member of the Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro and the Andover Country Club.
She is survived by four children, Cynthia A. Fosse of Lowell, Arthur E. Fosse, Jr. and his wife Donna (Sullivan) of Andover, Inga M. Burris and her husband Kevin of Hudson, NH and Lori J. Hamilton and her husband Brad of Nashua, NH; four grandchildren, Erik and Kayla Fosse and Ian and Matthew Burris; her lifelong friends, John and Elaine Curran of Windham, NH; also many nieces and nephews throughout New England, Texas, California and Florida.
Calling hours Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
