Obituary

Joseph Guerin Lapointe, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home in Charlestown following an extended illness. He was 86 years old.

Guerin was born on September 11, 1927 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. Guerin enlisted into the United States Army on December 13, 1945 and served his country with pride and courage during World War II. He was discharged on June 12, 1947 with the rank of Tec/5. Guerin worked for many years with several steel companies as a layout drafstman. He was a retired member of the Boilermakers Teamsters Union Local # 379. Guerin also worked alongside his brother for many years with Lapointe Brothers Contractors in Charlestown. Guerin was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing cards and camping but most of all he cherished the quality time he was able to spend with his family.

Guerin is the beloved husband of the late Bernadette M. (Beauregard) Lapointe. He is the devoted father of Joseph Lapointe and his wife Mary of Brockton, Richard Lapointe and his wife Patricia of Everett, Denise White-Sentner and her husband Raymond of Cape Coral, Florida and Susan Miller and her husband Charles of Charlestown. He is the loving Grandpa to 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Ghislaine Caron, Gerald LaPointe, Gladys Sprinkle and the late Guy LaPointe and George Lapointe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Guerin's Funeral on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
