Archie Watson, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, February 16, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Watson was born April 29, 1928, in Fitzgerald to the late Russell W. and Rosa Lee Gaff Watson. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Watson lived in the community all of his life and was a security guard at Gilman Building Products. He was also a former truck driver, owner and operator of heavy equipment, a farmer and a diesel mechanic. Mr. Watson was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by three sons: David & Shirley Watson of Fitzgerald, Michael & Latrelle Watson of Corpus Christi, Texas and Mark Watson of Albany; grandchildren: David & Angie Williams, Ted & Bridget Williams, Brad Williams, Wendy Watson, Stephanie West, Anna Grace Watson, Caleb Watson and Sarah Anslee Watson; great-grandchildren: Brittney, Lexie, Danielle, Austin, Dillan, and Jeffery; great-great-grandchildren: Keagen Sanders and Kaleb Sanders; brothers: Hugh & Brenda Watson of West Virginia, Russell & Janice Watson of Alabama and two sisters: Mary & Jack Nelms and Jewell Eldridge, all of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Ann Williams; a son: Billy Watson and a sister: Doris Young.
