Daniel C. Orzechowski, age 74, passed away on Feb. 7, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on May 30, 1939 in Chicopee. His parents were the late John F. and Caroline (Kolek) Orzechowski. Daniel worked as a technician for East Springfield Oil Company for many years before he retired. He was a member of the CT Valley Die Cast and Joe’s Die Cast Shack. He also enjoyed model cars and collected Hotwheels. He leaves his nieces, JoAnn Slachetka of FL and Caroline Sharpe of Wilbraham; 5 nephews, Walter Slachetka of Springfield, Daniel Slachetka and his wife Renee of Palmer, Kevin Cavanaugh of Springfield, Steven Orzechowski and his wife Beverly of NY and John Dannon and his wife Pam of VA. He also leaves his great nephews Michael Slachetka and Brennan Cavanaugh. He is predeceased by his brother John Orzechowski and also by his sisters Jane Slachetka, Emily “Mimi” Cavanaugh and May Orzechowski. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb.12, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
