Obituary

Mary D. (Palmieri) Zero, a life-long Medford resident died Friday at her home after a long illness. She was 85.

Mary was raised in Medford, the daughter of the late John and Irene (Caruso) Palmieri. A wonderful and fun loving person, Mary helped manage her family’s business, Banta Fuel. She was a calm and reassuring voice on the phone when a family would call needing service on a cold winter’s day. She was a very active woman who remained physically fit throughout her life. She enjoyed running and walking, singing and dancing. She was active at St. Joseph Parish and enjoyed playing in the volleyball league there. She belonged to the Medford Elks and volunteered at the Courtyard Nursing Home. She enjoyed her family and was a good neighbor.

The beloved wife of the late Thomas M. Zero, Sr, she was a devoted mother to John M. Zero, Denise Ingersoll and her husband Michael, Thomas M. Zero Jr. and Dean Zero all of Medford. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Christopher, Marysa, Derek, Tiana, Zachery and Ashley Rose. Mary was the dear sister of Mario Palmieri of Medford, Jennie Massaro of Cal. and the late Armando, Remo and Robert Palmieri.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday February 19th at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4 – 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary’s name to Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, 178 Savin Street, Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148.
