SPRINGFIELD – Nellie (Morris) Kabb, 95, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on October 18, 1918, a beloved daughter of the late Timophe and Alexandra (Mucha) Morris. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. During her younger years, Nellie enjoyed the simple things in life including roller skating and dancing. Most especially, she enjoyed being a loving homemaker to her family. She enjoyed cooking her wonderful dishes for her family and making her special cookies for her family and friends. Over the past several years, Nellie enjoyed planting her wonderful garden of vegetables and flowers at her home. Active in her faith, she was a lifelong communicant of Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Springfield where she was an active volunteer and a member of their Women’s Guild. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Paul Kabb; her two loving sons, Michael Kabb and his life partner, Doris Stewart, of Springfield, and Paul T. Kabb and his wife, Cheryl, of Rochester, NY; her four cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Michael Stewart of Springfield, Matthew Kabb of Coconut Creek, FL, Christopher Kabb of Gainesville, FL, and Melissa Kabb of Rochester, NY; her dear sister-in-law, Mary Kabb of Springfield; and her special nephews and nieces, James Methe and his wife, Deborah, of Ludlow, Russell Streeter of Bartlett, IL, Tina Diaduk and her husband, William, of Lexington Park, MD, and Barbara Cuiffo and her husband, Frank, of Bronxville, NY. She also leaves several other dear nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, and extended members of the Kabb and Morris families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother and two dear sisters, Mitchell Morris, Mary Lieber and Alice Methe. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, February 21, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 118 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Panikhida Service at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, PO Box 2843, Springfield, MA 01101-2843.
