Augusta, GA – Mr. James Dennis Jordon, Jr., 63, beloved husband of 43 years of Angie Smeak Jordon, entered into rest on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in the Storey Chapel at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Rodger Murchison and Chaplain Ken Wilson officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Jordon was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. He worked with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Mr. Jordon also worked for 25 years at the Savannah River Site retiring as a Health Physics Inspector. He also volunteered with the National Disaster Medical System where he served as Logistics Chief for the Georgia-3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT). During his time of service with DMAT he responded to the World Trade Center attack on 9/11 as well as Hurricane Katrina relief in Louisiana. Mr. Jordon loved to cook and was famous for his cheesecake.
In addition to his wife and high school sweetheart Angie, Mr. Jordon is survived by his daughter, Dr. Christie Jordon Curry (Scott); his mother, Anne Delgato Jordon; his brother, Tommy Jordon (Cathy); his grandson, Cameron Curry; and by his niece, Martha Anne Jordon.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, February 17, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel.
