Patrick F. Ritz, 88

Dateline: Taunton, MA

Patrick F. Ritz, age 88, of Taunton, formerly of Norton passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Mildred A. (Stappen) Ritz to whom he was wed on January 7, 1956.
Born in Boston, MA on November 8, 1925, he was a dear son of the late Francis and Lucia (Buonopane) Rizzo. He grew up in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and was educated in Boston schools.
For 35 years, prior to retirement, Mr. Ritz had been employed as a heating and ventilation mechanic at Rust Craft Greeting Cards in Dedham.
Pat was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He loved spending time with his family and especially having donuts with his grandchildren.
Mr. Ritz also enjoyed the simple pleasure of relaxing in the comfort of his home. He loved working in the yard and maintained his lawn in a manner which was sure to make anyone “green with envy”
In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Frank P. Ritz of Norton, Anthony J. Ritz of Florida, Trish A. Beninati and her husband John of Stoughton and the late Michele A. Roy. He was the adoring grandfather if Michael Ritz, April Ritz, Mark Ritz, Amanda Beninati, Dillon Beninati and the late David Ritz. he is also survived by his cherished great grandchildren, Savannah Ritz, Elliot Ritz and Giada Ritz, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Rena Governor, Josephine Brosz, Sara Jordan, Marie Koughan, Mary Collins, Jennie O’Brien, Frank Ritz and Anthony Ritz.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday, February 20th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 19th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Patrick’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Norton Ambulance Gift Fund, 70 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.
