AUBURN-Shirley M. (Kallio) Anderson, 72, of 47 Sumner St. died Tuesday, Oct. 19 at UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus surrounded by her family and friends. She leaves a daughter, Nancy L. Besnia of Sterling, two sons, Steven P. Anderson of Sutton and Mark E. Anderson of Charlton, her lifelong companion, Cliff Robbins, 2 aunts, Selma Israelian of Arizona and Helen Kallio of Worcester, and her closest friend, Shirley Ferrelli of Milford, several cousins and 3 grandchildren.
She was born daughter of Waino Kallio and Leola (Van Arsdalen) Finlayson and lived in Auburn most of her life. Mrs. Anderson was a quality control inspector for 30 years with Astra Pharmaceuticals Company before retiring a few years ago. She was a former member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Auburn Sportsman Club. She was an avid outdoors person, and enjoyed archery and fishing and walks along the Quabbin Reservoir.
The funeral will be Thursday, Oct. 21 at 11:00 a.m. in LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., Worcester. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your local Animal Rescue League Facility.
