Ralph William Willoughby
Dec. 12, 1937 to Feb. 10, 2014

Ralph William Willoughby, 76, of Pendleton, passed away of a massive heart attack on February 10, 2014 at Community Heart & Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born December 12, 1937 in Anderson to Earl William and Dorothy Cleo (Browning) Willoughby and was raised in Anderson moving to Pendleton in 1965. He lived in Madison County most of his life except for a brief time in Brooksville, Florida.

He served in the U.S. Army 1956-1963 completed special intelligence course 1958.

He worked at Davis Dairy; East Side Jersey Dairy; owned a Sunoco and Marathon Service Station, and worked plant protection at Delco Remy. He disassembled log cabins, moved them to the site and reconstructed them for the Conner Prairie village. He owned Creative Carpentry (a construction business); Heritage Antique Mall in Pendleton from 1997 to 2013 and Pendleton Art & Framing from 1999 to 2013.

He was a member of Madison County Property Owners Association where he was treasurer and on the Board of Director in 1994; Apartment Association of East Central Indiana; Pendleton Business Association for 17 years and Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club for over 20 years.

Ralph was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Shirley Anne (Shirley) Willoughby of Pendleton, whom he married May 25, 1956 in Anderson; children, David (wife Shelley) Willoughby of Ft. Wayne; Christina (husband Tom) Hockema of Pendleton; grandchildren, Matthew Michael Hockema of Anderson; Amy Beth Hockema of Tennessee; step-grandchildren, Kacy (husband Zach) May of Kentucky & Robert Johnson of Ft. Wayne; and great granddaughters, Michelle Lee Hockema and Taylen Davis of Anderson; brother, Ross (Mary Ann) Willoughby of Arizona; nieces & nephews: Scott Willoughby of Arizona; Tami (Jim) Elmer of Texas; Krysta (Phil) Gornick of Arizona; brother-in-law, Terry (Nancy) King; nieces & nephews, Ray, Chris and Wendy King; sister-in-law: Linda Hodges, nephews Scott, Kevin and Justin Shirley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kathleen Sue Willoughby.

Service will be 11 AM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, from 2-6 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton, IN.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Burzynski Clinic.
