John B. Hamel, 96, of Methuen passed away on February 11 at The Meadows at Edgewood.Born in St. Agathe, Canada on January 4, 1918, he was one of 13 children of Hormidas and Maria Hamel. Predeceased by his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his daughter, Joanne Gallagher and her husband John, daughter Denise Cassidy and her husband Brian, son Jeffrey Hamel and his wife Penny, daughter Beth Hamel, grandchildren Stephen and Jack Gallagher, Rob and Jeremy Cassidy, Ashley and Nicole Hamel and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Irene Gamache and Pauline Bissonette. John served as a T/SGT in the US Army, 28th Infantry from 1941 to 1945.
