Legro, Alice V. (Russell) 1924-2014, passed into Gods care peacefully in the arms of her family on February 10, 2014. She was 89 years old. She was born in Salem, MA on August 15, 1924 and lived most of her life in Danvers before moving to Marshfield, MA 20 years ago.
Alice was a devoted wife to Norman P. Legro, her husband of 67 years and loving mother to her children Norman P. Legro Jr. of Danvers, Susan Prives and her husband Wayne Prives of Marshfield, Dianne Legro of Marshfield and Nathan Legro of Danvers and Marshfield.
Alice was a beloved source of joy to her entire family and all who knew her. She was a certified nurse and was employed at the New England Home for the Deaf in Danvers for 10 years, where her accomplishment and gift for American sign language helped many hearing and sight impaired residents at the home to enjoy their daily lives. She served in many organizations on the North Shore and was dedicated to helping families and children in need.
Alice is survived by all of her immediate family, her 3 grandchildren, Lisa Prives of Bridgewater, Mathew Prives and wife Andrea Prives of East Bridgewater and Melissa Reale of Ipswich, her great granddaughter Iana Littler, her sister Shirley Mathews of Wenham, MA , brother Kenneth Russell of Quincy, sister Gayle Mills of Arizona and many loved nieces and nephews. Alice loved music and played piano, loved to garden and anything she put into the ground would grow-blossom, loved animals and could heal any frightened or injured animal with her kindness and care. Alice was always a living example of love, generosity, kindness, understanding peace and wisdom.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St. Rte. 139 in Marshfield from 4 to 6 p.m. with a service at 6:00 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to the MacDonald Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the New England Home for the Deaf, 154 Water St., Danvers, MA 01923.
