Middletown, RI – Ida (Bixby) Elwell, 92, of Long Highway, Little Compton, RI died Monday, October 18, 2004 at Grand Islander Nursing Home, after a brief illness. She was the widow of William L. Elwell.
Mrs. Elwell was born in Little Compton, daughter of the late Walter E. and Mabel G. (Wordell) Bixby and was a lifelong resident of Little Compton. She was a member of the First Baptist (Old Stone) Church, Tiverton, RI. Prior to retirement she was a housekeeper for the Acoaxet Club, Westport Harbor. She was a member of the Little Compton Grange #32, Little Compton Seniors and the Acoaxet Chapel of Westport Harbor.
Survivors include a son: Walter C. Elwell of Little Compton; 3 grandchildren: David Elwell, Mark Elwell and Bruce Elwell; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Howard W. Bixby and Raymond W. Bixby.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
