FALL RIVER … Walter J. Ziobro, Sr., 93, of Fall River died, Sunday, February 9, 2014. He died at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River.
He was the widower of Valeda (Diagnault) Ziobro.
He was born in Fall River a son of the late Jozef and Maria (Mis) Ziobro and had been a lifelong resident of the city.
He was a self-employed wallpaper hanger and painter for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II.
Mr. Ziobro was a member of the A.A.R.P. and he enjoyed gardening and helping his neighbors. He was a 1938 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School.
Survivors include a daughter Anita M. Ziobro of France, 3 sons: Walter J. Ziobro, Jr of Watertown, MA, Paul W. Ziobro of Assonet, Michael P. Ziobro of Guam, 2 sisters: Katherine Mullens and Wanda Brennor both of CA, 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Zygmunt, Edward, Stanley, Henry, Sadie Ziobro, Helen Burns, Viola Bucko, and Stella Dubie.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 - 5 P.M. at the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River. In lieu of flowers donations may be to St. Vincent's Home c/o Children's Emergency Clothing Fund, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held March 22, 2014 at 8 AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Bernadette's Church, 529 Eastern Ave. Fall River. Inturnment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
