Obituary

Lloyd A. Graves 88, a longtime resident of Franklin, MA, died February 9 at his winter home in Umatilla, Florida. Born in Milford, MA, August 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Wellman Ambrose Graves and Evelyn S. Wren. Mr. Graves was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Air Force as a B-17 bomber technician and later, in occupied Japan.

He was a Master Mason for over 49 years with the Excelsior Lodge of West Medway,
and an active member of the Franklin Federated Church, serving as a superintendent of Sunday schools for a time.

Lloyd became a “trucker” at an early age, before marrying and enlisting to serve in World War II. He eventually joined the teamsters local 170, driving for over 40 years with Ritz Trucking and St. Johnsbury Trucking of Holliston. In retirement, he drove for Meals on Wheels.

He and his wife Myrna helped initiate a local square dance group for adults and teens that performed and traveled throughout New England for many years. Lloyd loved to drive and travel with his wife, and was a member of the Masonic Family Campers Association.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife of over 67 years, Myrna A. (Sewell) Graves , his son, Gary Graves of Attleboro MA, his daughter, Linda (Graves) Raynor and son in law Fred Raynor, of Surry, Maine. He is survived by three grandchildren, Charles Raynor, Shelly (Jackson) Raynor, Jason Raynor and two great grandchildren. Mr. Graves is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21 in the Franklin Federated Church at 1:00 P:M
A private burial service will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sherborn.
