Methuen – Sylvia M. (Dougherty) Feather, 83, of Methuen, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of Robert H. Feather, to whom she was married for 33 years.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 13, 1930, she was the daughter of Leroy and Sylvia (Tilghman) Dougherty. Sylvia was educated in the Baltimore school system and graduated from high school in Maryland. At age 18, she joined the Bon Secours Catholic Order of Nuns. She worked as a registered nurse at the Bon Secour Hospital in Methuen since its inception until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and traveling.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert, her brother, Leroy Dougherty of Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Sylvia's life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 2 - 4 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Monica's Church in Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
