Mr. Robert S. ”Bob” Wilson, of Lawrence, formerly of Haverhill, and beloved husband of Carol Ann (Hartmann) Wilson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill on, Thursday, February 6, 2014. He was 71 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on January 10, 1943, he was the beloved son of the late Walter J. and Marion (Allen) Wilson. Mr. Wilson worked as a mechanic for the Essex Street Garage for many years and had also been employed by Western Electric, AT & T and retired from Lucent Technologies following many years of service. In his spare time, Mr. Wilson enjoyed going fishing with his family and friends, loved bird watching and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was also a member of the Lawrence Elks and was always tinkering and fixing all types of items around his home.
Besides his beloved wife, Carol Ann, he will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Kathleen M. and her husband, Glyn C. Beech of Derry, New Hampshire and Daniel R. and his wife Christine E. Wilson of Haverhill, grandchildren; Patrick, Samantha, Isabelle, Emily and Victoria, sister; Shirley Petzold of Andover, brothers-in-law; William Zurwell of Andover, John Hartmann of Haverhill, Edward Hartman of Bradford, sisters-in-law; Ruth Sullivan of Billerica, Marie Gouin of Haverhill, best friend; Albert VanDooren of Andover and several nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Nicholas and brother of the late Marjorie Zurwell.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be private.
