Huff, Clara “June” (Spoolstra), 85, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Emeritus at Stonecreek Lodge.
She was born in Martin, Michigan to Bernard & Clara (Post) Spoolstra, (Owners of Spoolstra Market).
“June” graduated from the Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her first nursing position was with the Michigan Civil Defense Commission’s state wide blood typing program. She continued with occasional part-time nursing, as marriage to a Naval Aviator and attendant travels allowed. Her last employment was with Dr. Nathan Zimmerman at the Valley Medical Clinic, Louisville, KY.
June was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, a brother and her loving husband of 61 years, Mahlon Huff, whom she met on a blind date and married 4 months later.
Survivors include her children, Craig Huff (Pam), Kim Blackwell (Brad) and Marta Renn (Don); seven grandchildren, Veronica Hyde (David), Robbie Blackwell (Jess), Matthew Huff (Brienne), Andrew Renn, Elizabeth DeWan (Joe), Tristan Renn (Cori) and Jered Renn; a brother, Peter Spoolstra (Donita).
Her Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with scattering of cremains to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
Memorial visitation will be Monday 10 AM till 12 Noon. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
