Richard L. Elwell 78, of Sherborn passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham.
He was the beloved husband of Marie T. (Salvi) Elwell sharing 51 years of marriage.
A Sherborn resident for 39 years he was born in Weymouth the son of the late Richard L. and Marie (Herman) Elwell.
Dick was a businessman and innovative entrepreneur in the packaging industry for 39 years, and owner of Bret Packaging of Needham. Dick retired in 2007 but his trait lived on through his sons own packaging company.
He enjoyed boating, coin and stamp collecting and was a longtime Red Sox and Patriots fan. Dick attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts.
He would tell anyone that his greatest achievement in life was the love of his wife and children.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children Janene M. Goudreault and her husband David of Sherborn, Richard A. Elwell and his wife Mindy of Buckeye Arizona, Scott M. Elwell of Framingham, Todd D. Elwell and his wife Brenda of Holliston, one twin sister Carolyn Vining of Weymouth, 7 grandchildren Jessica, Jeffery, Jacqueline, and Johnny Goudreault, Richard, Angela and Dominic Elwell, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common followed by a Christian Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St Theresa Parish in Sherborn.
Visiting hours in the Funeral Home are Thursday February 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
