Mildred Branch Walker, 93, of Tifton died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at her residence. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Howell will officiate with burial to follow. Clark Walker, Michael Walker, Jerry Walker, Marty Walker, Sharkey Campbell and Bryson Walker will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Walker was born on May 19, 1920, in Tifton and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Branch, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Calvin “J. C.” Walker and one grandchild, Tracey Yager. She was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Tifton. She was an avid reader and bridge player and was a charter member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and had been a volunteer with Meals On Wheels.
Mrs. Walker is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jerry Walker of Tifton and Jerry and Mary Lee Walker of Griffin; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dr. J. L. Campbell of Tifton; six grandchildren, Clark Walker and wife Julie of Tifton, Michael Walker and wife Kate of Arcata, California, Jerry Walker of Griffin, Molly Walker of Locust Grove, Marty Walker of Locust Grove and Sharkey Campbell of Tifton; four great-grandchildren, Bryson Walker and Claire Walker, both of Tifton, Melanie Wetherington of Valdosta and Camille Yager of Covington; and her very special friends who cared for her, Debra Dove and Jessie Brinson.
