Stanley W. Glowik, age 85, of Lynn, died after a brief illness at the North Shore Medical Center, Union Hospital, Feb. 3.
Born in Lynn, the son of the late Victor and Anna (Kalinowski) Glowik, beloved husband of Frances D. (Plocharski) Glowik. He was raised and educated in Lynn attending St. Michael’s Grammar School, Breed Junior High and a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. In his youth, he pitched for the Lynn Park League, where in one season he pitched back-to-back no-hitters.
Mr. Glowik had honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Stanley was owner/operator of the Rite-Way Exterminating Company and employed by the City of Lynn Parking Department for 53 years.
He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 56, and the VFW Post 15022 and St. Michaels P.N. A. Lodge 630., former member of St. Michael’s Parish of Lynn, the Lynn Inter–City Bowling League, where he scored the highest 3 string score at 395. In 1965, the seven Glowik brothers set a record by all joining the Knights of Columbus Valladolid Council #70 of Lynn on the same day.
In addition to his wife, he survived by his son, Andrew M. Glowik, and his wife, Lisa, of Laurel, Md.; his daughter, Joan C. Glowik, of Lynn; his granddaughters, Katherine and Anna Glowik; and his brother Edward Glowik and his wife, Ann, of Lynn; He was predeceased by his brothers Vincent, Benjamin, Walter, Anthony and John Glowik and sister Sally Pacunas.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the NADWORNY FUNERAL HOME, 798 Western Ave., Lynn, on Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Boston Street, at 10:30 a.m. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in Stanley’s name to Sacred Heart Church, 571 Boston St., Lynn, MA 01905.
