Obituary

Rhea A. (Savaria) Genereux, 97, formerly of Winter St. died Saturday at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Louis P. Genereux. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Raoul and Marie Louise (Giguere) Savaria. Rhea was a LPN and worked for St. Joseph’s Hospital, the Lying –In Hospital, and Woonsocket Hospital, mostly in the maternity ward. She also worked for Dr. Cohen for eight years before retiring in 1969. She was a member of the RSVP, Our Lady of Victories Ladies Guild and Golden Club, L’Apres Midi at the YWCA, and the Trinity Club. Rhea volunteered for several committees and functions at Our Lady of Victories Parish including cooking at the rectory.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle Genereux of Manahawkin, NJ, a brother Raoul “Ralph” Savaria, of Woonsocket, a sister, Therese Brunelle of Woonsocket, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Raymond, Paul-Emile, and Rita Savaria and Germaine Giguere.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Antoine Residence Chapel, Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield. Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery in Slatersville. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donation to St. Antoine Community, Office of Development, 10 Rhodes Ave. North Smithfield, RI 02896-6999 in her memory would be appreciated.
