Obituary

Betty Lucille Musselwhite Kennedy, 68, of Tifton died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Tift Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with eulogies to be given by Teresa Carpenter and Cal Carpenter. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Justin Carpenter, Jesse Carpenter, Whitley Carpenter, Hunter Caley, Matthew Hoffacker and Brent Hoffacker will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be gathering at the home of Teresa Carpenter at 29 Moore Road in Tifton.

Mrs. Kennedy was born on March 4, 1945 in Tift County and was the daughter of Noah Thomas Musselwhite Jr. and Mildred Lois Conger Musselwhite, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie C. Kennedy; her favorite grandmother, Mina Musselwhite; and one daughter, Betty Elaine Sumler. She retired from Greenleaf Center as a medical technician and also worked at the Georgia Agrirama, where she led tours through the museum. She was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Cal Carpenter of Tifton, Lisa and Trae McKee of Tifton and Kimberly and Darren Dillard of Brookfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Sandra Musselwhite of Tifton, Daniel and Janice Musselwhite of Mystic and Johnny and Wanda Musselwhite of Nashville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Randy Willis of Tifton and Millie and Ken Kroboth of Rochester, New York; eleven grandchildren, Justin Carpenter, Kalon Carpenter, Laryn Joy, Emily and Hunter Caley, Jesse Carpenter, Libby Mainor, Whitley Carpenter, Chastity Dillard, Rosemary McKee, Peyton Dillard and Chelsea Dillard; five great-grandchildren, Sara Joy-Patterson, Abby Carr, Elizabeth Musgrove, Sophie Caley and Noah Caley; and a niece and two nephews she considered her own children, Matthew Hoffacker, Heather Rich and Brent Hoffacker.
