Obituary

WORCESTER: Mary M. Whalen, 91, formerly of 52 Country Club Blvd., died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at St. Mary’s Health Care Center.
She leaves a niece, a nephew and several close friends. Two brothers, Rev. Henry L. Whalen and James M. Whalen, both predeceased her.
She was born in Webster, daughter of the late Henry L. and Mary A. (Graham) Whalen. She lived in Worcester most of her life and attended school of the Ascension.
Mary worked for 17 years as a clerk-typist for the City of Worcester until retiring in 1984. She was previously a member of the Sisters of Mercy for 20 years. She was a former member of St. Bernard’s Parish, now known as Our Lady of Providence Parish.
A CALLING HOUR will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. on TUESDAY, FEB. 4 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St., followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 10 A.M. at OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE PARISH, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
