Dudley
Louis P. Econome, 91, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 30, 2014 in his home.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Maria (Tsigaridas) Econome, a daughter, Lynn E. wife of Kenneth R. Meltzer of Framingham, sisters-in-law; Beatrice Econome of Garden City, N.Y., Elaine Patrinos of Topsfield, and Helen ‘Cin’ Tsigaridas of Dudley, 2 Godchildren; George Patrinos and Penny Frangos and many other nieces ,nephews ,grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother George.
Louis was born in New York City, a son of Peter and Constantina (Johnson) Econome and lived in Dudley over 60 years.
He and his ‘Bride’ as he affectionately would call Maria would have been married 61 years on February 15th. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a hydraulic engineer.
Lou graduated from George Washington High School in New York and the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics in New Jersey . He worked as a hydraulic engineer for American Airlines in New York and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Lou later attended Clark University , and graduated from the New England School of Accounting , and was as an accountant ,then treasurer for the former Rice-Barton Co. and its’ affiliates before retiring.
He was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Webster and served on the Church Council and was the treasurer for many years, and a member of A.H.E.P.A. Lou was also a member of Toastmasters of America, and Dudley Golf Course, and also had 4 holes-in-one over his golfing career. He loved music, especially classical and big bands, and would call himself a harmonica ‘Virtuoso’. He also enjoyed his Cape House and making model planes, boats and cars, and cooking.
Calling Hours for Louis will be Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 5PM to 8 PM at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway, Webster . A Trisagion Service will be Thursday at 7PM in the Church.
The Funeral will be Friday, February 7, 2014 with a Service at 10 AM in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 35 Lake Parkway, Webster, burial with Military Honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans’ Council will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 713, Webster, MA. 01570.
