Obituary

Sister Lorraine Trombley (formerly known as Sister M. Simeon), 70, a Sister of Mercy for 52 years, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, after a long illness. A native of Keene, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Edith (Alstrom) Trombley.

Sister Lorraine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Mt. St. Mary College in Hooksett, N.H., and her Master of Arts degree in education from Keene State College, Keene, N.H. She was a dedicated teacher and administrator in New Hampshire Catholic schools and taught at St. Ann School in Gloucester, Massachusetts. In New Hampshire, Sister Lorraine taught at St. Joseph, Blessed Sacrament, and St. Catherine Schools in Manchester; Sacred Heart School in Lebanon; St. Mary School in Claremont; and St. Patrick School in Portsmouth. She served as principal at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Derry and St. Patrick School in Jaffrey. From 1989 until illness prevented her from continuing, she taught at Sacred Heart School in Hampton.

Family members include three sisters: Shirley Raftery of West Roxbury, Mass.; Irene Boyea of Keene, N..H.; and Jean Grossi, also of Keene.

Sister Lorraine is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lorraine Trombley of Keene, and her brothers-in-law, Francis Raftery of West Roxbury, Mass., Jack Boyea, and John Grossi, both of Keene, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond L and Richard L. Trombley.

Friends may call at the Sisters of Mercy Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 from 2 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Sisters of Mercy in Windham, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH Arrangemenst are by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH
