Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Jackman) Kruczek, 81, of Auburn, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 29th. She lived in Auburn for 60 years. Her husband of 50 years, Henry R. “Hank” Kruczek, died in 2002. She leaves two sons, Ronald of Auburn, with whom she lived and Charles and his wife Paula of Paxton; a daughter, Kathleen Soucie and her husband Kevin of East Brookfield. Her twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren gave her great pleasure and pride. She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Moreau and her brother Charles Jackman.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Charles A. and Elizabeth A. (Tunstall) Jackman and graduated from South High School and Sargent College/Boston University.
Mrs. K. was an Athletic Director, Administrator, faculty member, and teacher at Fitchburg State College for 35 years. In 1995, she received the Corbett Award for Top Athletic Administrator in the country. She was a member of the NCAA Executive Committee for many years. Mrs. K, was the Executive Director for Marion’s Camp for Girls and the Clara Barton Camp for diabetic girls for a number of years.
She took great joy in family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, and summer fun. Betty and Hank enjoyed traveling in both the United States and abroad. They especially liked cities with casinos; together they enjoyed life. A loving mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and friend, we were blessed to have known her and to have been loved by her. Elizabeth lived a “Wonderful Life.”
