SALEM - Anna (Drebit) Konopka, 89, of Macungie, PA, formerly of Salem and Peabody, wife of the late Walter M. Konopka, died Wednesday evening, January 29, 2014 with family at her side.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Barbara (Holda) Drebit .
Following graduation from high school, she attended Banford Academy for hairdressing in Boston and was employed as a hairdresser during the 1940’s. Later, she was employed at Hytron in Salem and retired in 1989 from Unitrode in Salem where she worked in quality control.
Before moving to Pennsylvania, Anna was a resident of Salem for most of her life and was a communicant of St James Church. She enjoyed designing and making her own clothes.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John S. and Sandra Konopka of Peabody, Gary M. and Mary Konopka of Macungie, PA and with whom she resided, seven grandchildren, Amanda, Lisa, Judith, Michael, Suzanne, John, Jr. and Christopher, 11 great grandchildren, Charlie Berl, Ivy Marie, Noland Berl, Max Edward, Josh Brady, Ayden John, Aynslee Elizabeth, Alice Marie, Kaden Michael, Stanley and Malachi Jeremiah along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Chruniak and Benjamin Drebit.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. James Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Monday, 5 to 8 pm. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
