Obituary

Doris R. (Lizotte) Garcia, 85, of New Bedford died Monday January 27, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Souza and the late Frank Garcia.

Born in Westport, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Anna (Remy) Lizotte, she lived in Fall River and New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Golden Agers. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed bowling at the Bowlers Country Club in Fairhaven and the Wonderbowl in New Bedford.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle A. (Souza) (Crovello) Gerrior of Middleboro and her boyfriend, Dennis Vasconcellos; her grandson, Walter L. Crovello III and his wife Carol and family of New Bedford; her granddaughter-in-law, Tracy Crovello of Woburn; her siblings, Lorraine Lapointe of Fall River, Robert Lizotte of Riverside, RI., and Adrian Lizotte and his wife Barbara of Shelton, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Martin A. Crovello, and her siblings, Jeannette Lanneville, Marcel Lizotte, Leon Lizotte, Irene Binette Hurley, and Norman Lizotte.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
