Gertrude T. (Blain) Tessier 90, formerly of Warwick St. died Monday January 27, 2014 at Oakland Grove Health Care Centre. She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Tessier Sr. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Rena (Bouchard) Blain. Gert was an assembler for the former US Rubber Co. for twenty seven years. She also was an emergency room clerk at R I Hospital for twenty five years and later worked part-time in the payroll department of Landmark Medical Center. She was a member of the St. Louis and St. Anthony Chorales and a member of the Red Hat Society.
Gert is survived by her son Ernest A. Tessier Jr. of Glendale, AZ and daughter Nancy Tessier of Venice, FL, two grandchildren, Stacey and Stephanie, and three great-grandchildren, Jesse, Abby, and Samuel. She was also the mother of the late Paul A. Tessier and sister of the late Muriel Laplume, Lillian Rivet, and Normand Blain.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:00 AM in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the RI Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908 in her memory would be appreciated.
