Obituary

Athena (Drapos) Tsoules, 96, of Worcester died Monday, January 27th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 62 years, Vasilios “William” Tsoules died in 2004. She leaves her son, Evans Tsoules and his wife, Irene of Worcester; a daughter, Mary Tsoules of Framingham; a sister, Helen Rougas of Paxton; six grandchildren, Christina Soriano, William and Michael Tsoules, Athena, Matthew and Nicole Fitzpatrick; two great granddaughters, Evelyn and Penelope Soriano; a son in law, Thomas Fitzpatrick of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James who died in 1954; her daughter, Diane Fitzpatrick who died in 2005 and four brothers, James, Alex, Nick and Arthur Drapos.
She was born in Longos, Albania the daughter of Evangelos and Theodora (Liazos) Drapos. Mrs. Tsoules worked with her husband at the family business the Soda Shoppe, later known as the Webster House Restaurant. She and her husband were instrumental in the founding of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Athena was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior Citizens, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, the Pan-Epirotic Socitey and had been active in the Greek Festival. In 1986, Mrs. Tsoules and her husband were honored by the parish and the Boston Diocese as parishioners of the year, the first to receive the Clergy Laity Award for outstanding service to the church. She enjoyed travel, her ethnic cooking and crocheting tablecloths.
Athena’s family would like to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their commitment to her care and comfort.
Her funeral is Saturday, February 1st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 9:30 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 31st from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, MA 01606.
