Whitman - Lily (Fafoglia) Aronson 92, died peacefully Sunday January 26 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Aronson.
Born in Fabriano, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Ottoviano and Giovanna (Marcelli) Fafoglia. She came to the United States at the age of 3 with her parents and was raised in Springfield, Illinois. She married and moved to Massachusetts where she was resident of Holbrook from 1956-1989.
She and her husband retired to Ocala, Florida in 1989, where she lived until moving back to MA in 2008.
Lily enjoyed cooking and gardening, she loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter Myra (Susie) Connors of Whitman, her siblings Lindo Fafoglia , Otto Fafoglia, Helen Tohlen and Clara Martin all of IL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sherry Davis and her husband Kenny of Whitman, Linda Donovan and her husband Danny of Whitman, Richard Connors and his wife Denise of Halifax and Susanne Connors of Whitman, her great grandchildren Matthew and Julia Donovan, Rachel and Michael Connors as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late David Aronson and sister of the late Mary Dunne.
Her funeral service will be held Friday January 31 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 30 form 6:00-8:00PM.
