James Richard Yost, God called “Jim” home today, January 27, 2014, surrounded by his beloved wife, Bette, and family after a period of failing health. Jim and his wife lived for the past 10 years in the Shangri-la “Oak Point,” Middleboro MA. Jim was the son of Charles and Dora (Lane) Yost. He was born in Oreton, VA in 1933. Jim is survived by his darling wife, Elizabeth “Bette” Yost, his five children, James Jr. and his wife Susan of Bridgewater, Ma, William Yost and his wife Ellen of Charlotte, NC, John Yost and his wife Mary of Middleboro, MA, Janice Yost of Somersworth, NH and Matthew Yost of Brockton, MA. His two beloved step-sons, Michael Thomas and his wife Katia of Dighton, MA and Stephen Thomas of Middleboro, MA. His sisters, Elizabeth Lane, Mrs. Shirley Harris and Eula Hall and her husband Jim, all of Big Stone Gap, VA. Jim is also a grandfather to eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jim was an Army Korean War Veteran 1949-1951 and Air Force Veteran 1952-1958, and was a member of the Oak Point Veterans’ Association, Disabled Veterans, American Legion and the US Army 2nd Division. Jim retired in 1989, as a Manager of the Employee Assistance
Program, US Postal Service, Boston, MA. Jim was an avid golfer, pool player, and “karaoke” singer and loved to tell jokes at all Oak Point functions. Jim was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro, MA. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, January 31st at 10 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Taunton, MA.at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be private the request of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org and the Disabled American Veterans. at www.dav.org
