Laconia---Virginia Clara Lord, a quiet woman and lifelong resident of Laconia and Gilford who loved her friends and family, died peacefully on January 26, 2014, after a brief illness. She was 84.
Born on August 24, 1929, to Chester and Hazel (Chapman) Lord, Virginia’s biggest desire in life was simply to be included in whatever her family and friends were doing. She’d love to sit with you, enjoy a meal and watch TV, smiling and laughing at the simple joy of it all the while. Crafts, drawing, puzzles and latch-hook were some of her favorite hobbies and became gifts for family and friends. Virginia was especially talented at using her drawing and coloring skills to duplicate another picture and she was rightly proud of her work. Dogs, cats, and babies responded happily to the special affections she had for them. Despite being denied an education, in her own way Virginia taught people perhaps more than they could have expected.
Besides her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her favorite uncle, Everett Lord, and favorite cousin, Dottie (Lord) Lessard, both of whom looked after her in her later years. Two cousins survive her, Ray Lord of Wolfeboro and Doug Lord of Maidstone, Vt., plus several members of her extended family and her compassionate and dedicated friend and caregiver, Tonya Johnican, and her daughter, Dakota Johnican, both of Laconia.
There will be no calling hours.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
Spring burial will be in the family lot at Ladd Street Cemetery, Haverhill, N.H.
