Obituary

Wilfred R. Demeule, 89 of Salem, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Mary Rita (Arsenault) Demeule, with whom he had shared 59 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Amie and Laura (Dumas) Demeule. During World War II he served with the Army National Guard. Wilfred worked as a welder for the Salem Welded Products Company of Salem for many years. He retired in 1994 from the Precise Welding Company of Lynn.

Wilfred was a hard working, quiet and unpretentious man who was devoted to his family. He enjoyed his work and traveling with his wife and family to her native Prince Edward Island. He was also fond of hiking and model building.

In addition to his wife Mary Rita, he is survived by two sons, Richard R. Demeule and his wife Madeline of Londonderry, NH and Alfred A. Demeule and his wife Cheryl A. of Raymond, NH as well as 5 grandchildren, Shawn R. Demeule, Amy R. Rodriguez, Kristine M. Demeule, Kenlyn Park Jones, Gregory Sung Demeule and two great-grandchildren Carter Chamberlain and Liliana Rodriguez. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Cecile Marquis, Yvonne Nelson, Victoria Kravatis and his brothers, Raymond ‘Pete’ & Gerard ‘Blackie’ Demeule.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with his Vigil Service to take place at 7:00 P.M.
