Lena "Tillie" (Thomas) Thomas, 86, of New Bedford died October 14, 2004 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph G. Thomas.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Michael Thomas and Mabel (Zeadey) Thomas-Coury, and the step-daughter of the late Antone J. Coury, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church and a member of St. Joseph's Sodality at her church. She was extremely strong with her faith.
Mrs. Thomas was formerly employed by Paul and Dixon Insurance Company for many years until her retirement.
She was a member and past president of the American Lebanese Veterans Association Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer foster grandmother at Parker St. School.Mrs. Thomas enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for all family functions.
Survivors include 3 sons, Robert M. Thomas, and his wife Cindie, of Florida, Joseph G. Thomas, Jr., and his wife Bernice, of Amherst, NH and Michael P. Thomas, and his wife Maureen, of Woburn, MA; a daughter, Claire L. daSilva, and her husband Gilberto, of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Edward P. Coury of New Bedford and John P. Coury, and his wife Jean, of Westport; 2 sisters, Lucienne Rodriguez of New Bedford and Flora C. Azar, and her husband George, of Dartmouth; 9 grandchildren, Robert, II, Ryan, Jennifer, Eric, Kimberly, Kristin, Joseph, III, Zachary and Nicholas; 7 great-grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Mason, Robert, III, Marissa, Trevor and Kalil; 2 sister-in-laws, Josephine Thomas and Matilda Moses, and her husband George, all of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Sarah Guerra.

Visiting hours Sunday, October 17th from 3-8 PM.
Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
