Jacqueline M. (Burke) Hurley 68, of Brockton passed away January 23, 2014. She was born in Boston to the late John P. and Grace L. (Schmitt) Burke. Jacqueline was raised in Randolph and was a graduate of Randolph High School; she has been a Brockton resident for over 40 years. She had been a Nurse’s Aide for several years working for the Embassy House Nursing Facility here in Brockton as well as providing in home health aid. She was proud member for 32 years of Alcoholics Anonymous and an active advocate for animals especially her kitties throughout Brockton; working closely with Baystate Animal Cooperative Inc.
She embraced her spirituality and recognized the many faiths, religions and disciplines of others. She herself practiced Reiki which enabled her to connect with others in a uniquely spiritual way.
Jacqueline was a devoted mother to her two daughters and when told “I love you” she would reply “I love you more because I’m bigger”. She is remembered for her sweet and gentle nature touching all she met with a loving and tender heart. She lived and passed away on her own terms.
She is survived by her daughters Jill Marie Hurley of Brockton, Joy Desirée Hurley – Deluna of FL; her grandchildren, Nicole Steele of Brockton and Trinity Jayde, Xavier Jacob and Gage Justice Deluna all of FL; her siblings, Laurie G. Cohen of Wayland, Margaret T. Burke of Pembroke, Shannon A. Kneeland of So. Boston and John P. Burke of Weymouth; her former husband, Jack Hurley and many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her son William F. Hurley and her sister H. Louise Burke formerly of Braintree.
