Mrs. Kathleen Mary (Gore) Towne, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Philip W. Towne, died at her home on Thursday, January 23, 2014. She was 93 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on December 29, 1920, she was the beloved daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Hannaford) Gore. Mrs. Towne was employed as a clerk for Mystic Valley Gas and Lights Company for many years and retired from Mass Electric. In her spare time, Kathleen loved to travel and had visited Hawaii and all over Europe. Above all, she loved being with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was also the loving mother-in-law of the late Elizabeth Towne.
She will be missed by her loving son; Philip M. and his wife Janice C. Towne of Medford, grandchildren; Brighid Towne and Michael and his wife Anna Towne and great-grandchildren; Elizabeth and Connor Towne.
His funeral was held from the Belas-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting hours were held on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday at 1:15 PM.
